Aivhhishop Julius sprung ;in affective surprise on Bishop kSprott (Wellington) i\ t Kriday afternoon’s session of the Anglican Cenoral Synod (says the “Otago Daily Times”). The Primate was speaking of the Church of England prayer book, and had just concluded with the remark : “ It would lie unsafe to presume the identity of the I*nited Church of Kngland and Ireland with the Churcli of England. Some people contend that the Church of England and Ireland means the Church of England.” And then turning to Bishop Sprott, he asked: “What do you say. my lord ?” It was an inopportune query, for the Bishop, who was silting on the Primate’s left hand side, was having a ipiiet little dose, and the deathly silence which followed had much the effect of a thunderclap in waking him. The joke was appreciated as iiunii by the Bishop himself as hv the whole house. The housewife sees her smiling face in the iloor when she polishes with liquid “ Tan-ol.” Quick, easy, economical.—Advt.
