The discovery of seven stowaways in the steamer Cornwall, which recently arrived at Auckland arounsed considerable excitement on board the steamer after her departure from Liverpool (says an exchange). The Cornwall was two days at sea. before the first of the stowaways was discovered hiding in the hunkers. A search revealed six others who had come aboard during the last day of the steamer’s stay at Liverpool, and hidden in various parts of the ship. The men were put to work, and when the Cornwall arrived at Panama five of their number^were placed on shore to be taken back to the Old Countdy by the first of the company’s ships passing homeward through the canal. The remaining two stowaways were allowed to continue to work their passage to New Zealand in the stokehold. Both men are young, and it lias not yet been decided what action, if any, will he taken against them. They proved themselves energetic workers in the ship.
