MORE NOTORIETY. TK AWA.MUTU. Fob. 9. The hank clerk. Harold Keith Jones, who gained notoriety by forging and uttering cheques for his honeymoon, and who was sentenced to two years, after serving six weeks at the Waikeria Reformatory, escaped at 9.39 on Sunday morning. He was missed shortly afterwards, and a search was immediately begun, which continued all night, so far without result. It, is not known the direction the escapee went,, hut it is believed he is heading towards Arapnni. lie carries a Schneider riMe* and several rounds of ammunition, which he stole at the time of his escape. He is dressed in dungarees, hut it is now supposed he will he wearing a dark soil or dark coat, over his dungarees. The escapee is 28 years of age, oft. Bio. in height, thin build, dark complexion, black hair and smart appearance. The fact of him carrying arms is causing some uneasiness.
