CUR IST( 'll UR H, Fell. 5. The third Christchurch wool sale of the season was commenced to-night, when “808 hales of a catalogue of 20,000 were olfered. The wool was heavier in concliU ion than that of the previous sale. There was a full bench ol buyers. Prices showed a substantial drop on all classes, compared with the January sale, to the extent of 2;d to 2d for crossbred, and up to 2.U1 on finer wools. However, all round the sale was a sounder one than at Timaru on Saturday. American and local competition was more prominent than p;o----viously for liall’lircd wool, and a correspondingly lighter proportion went to Home buyers. A giiad deal of merino wool went in (he latter direction, and a fair proportion of coarser wool to Continential buyers. Several of the most prominent Holin' buyers at the previous sale had short having commissions. To-night the top price was 2,2'd for sixteen hales Blenheim (Melds Hill) clip. Bidding generally was slack, and sixteen per cent of the first catalogue of 5000 hales Wits passed in.

The question of compulsory enrolment under the amending Act of last session was discussed b,v the executive of the New Zealand Licensing Reform Association and it was decided to send a letter to the Minister in charge of the Electoral Department to the effect that the* general opinion of the meeting was that not one in ten of the electors of New Zealand know they arc automatically removed from all rolls, or that they arc personally responsible for securing their own enrolment and are liable to he lined if not enrolled before .March fi.
