BOWLING.

During the progress of the bowling tournament it is probable that a meeting of the West Coast, Bowling Centre will be held, when one of the matters to be decided will be the date fur the bolding of tin' champions singles tournament, which takes place at Westport. This is a new competition for the West Coast, to he inaugurated this season, and will be competed for by the singles champion of each West Coast club.

The fine weather continues and there is every prospect of there being a continuance next week, when the Coast bowling tournament opens. The visiting players from Canterbury, some forty in number, will arrive on Saturday even ing. and the Westport, Runanga and Greymouth players will arrive on Sunday evening, or early on Monday morning. Arrangements are now complete for the tournament. The green will l>o found fast, but it would lie the better bad there been some rain during the past week, as the grass shows signs of browning, and it will have a heavy traffic on it during the progress of the tournament.

The Hokitika Bowling Club will be represented at the tournament by three rinks and seven pairs. At present the Club hold the Usher Cup. having won it at the tournament at Greymouth last year when Mr D. Stevenson's link was successful.
