.Mr MeGeorge .engineer to the Westport Coal Company for the past Ui years, succeeding Mr Edmund Gillow, is retiring at the end of the present month from the Company's service and intends to make his future home in Melbourne. The death took place in the Bullor Hospital on Tuesday of Mr Diehard Holmes. Deceased who was 70 years of age and had only been ill for about a week. The late Mr Holmes was a native of Belfast. The Returned Soldiers’ Association contemplate pushing on with the budding of the social rooms in the front of the main hall, so much in general use id' late. As all the funds are not available to lniild the full complement of club rooms, it is proposed to divide the building programme into two parts. The first stage will he three rooms to he used more particularly in connection with the social hall. These will include 11. ladies’ room, n cents’ room, and a smoking room, with a. side entrance and hall way at the front. These rooms will add considerably to the convenience of the Soldiers’ Hall, anil make it more usojul to the Soldiers Club.
