SHORTACIC OK TRUCKS.. A recurring trouble on be Auckland wharves, ns well ns in other places, is in the shortage ol railway trucks. The position was brought under the notice of the Minister for Railways (the Hon. .1. G. Coates) by a “ *tar representative. The Minister explained that he was fully alive to the inconvenience caused bv the present state of aflairs, and tiiat lie was taking steps to reorganise the “whole of the department dealing with railway equipment. In the past there was no doubt district office!s had shown a tendency to err on tie safe side in calculating their own requirements in the way of trucks for local traffic. The result was that in certain areas plenty of trucks « available ,but in other n aces .c e demands were heavy, all atailabk trucks were utilised and others could not bo located to relieve the pressure. Mr Coates said the problem would be solved bv neutralising the control o the vehicles.
