Lieutenant-Commander Pollen, who assisted in the preparation of the official naval history writing in the “English Review,” declares that Sir Reginald Bacon was so anxious to assail Lord Beatty that lie completely forgot the German fleet. If Beatty had stopped to concentrate, his battleships he would have wasted no loss than twelve minutes. Betty instantly seized the fleeting opportunity and brought on battle which was the aim of tlie British Supreme Command. Commander Pollen denies that Beatty lost- touch with the Germans or that lie did not signal Lord .Tellieoe while racing northward and reprints the text of Beatty’s signals.
