The Christchurch ‘•Press” says: Mr R 0 chief clerk, C-us-toms Department, Christchurch, who has been off duty since July last on account of trouble with his eyes, recently underwent a successful operation m Wellington, and expects to resume duty early this month. This pleasing intimation will be appreciated by Air Ecolesfield’s many Westland friends.
A quiet wedding was celebrated bv Rev. Father Riordan of Ross at St. Mary’s Church, Hokitika, this morninn at 8 a’clock, when Air Joseph Kidd, youngest son of Air J. A. Kidd of South Hokitika was united to Alms Angelino Curtain, only daughter of the late Air J. Curtain, and Airs C.ur- . tain of Alananui. The bride was given away bv her brother, Air F. Curtain, and' Miss Eileen Kidd (sister of the bridegroom) was bridesmaid. The hai r couple loft later hv motor car on thenhoneymoon.
