AN INQUEST. AUCKLAND, January 27. At an inquest into the death of Esther Mary Watts, who died from injuries sustained through being knocked down by a motor bus driven by Stanley Alfred Rule in Newmarket on Jan. Kith. .Margaret Thompson, a passenger
on the bus, said sue was frightened by the speed. She maintained the speed was excessive at the time of the accident. Constable Powell said Rule pointed out skid marks which he said indicated the track of his bus. The marks were discernible for s(il’t. Rule said he was travelling at 20 miles an hour. He had sounded the horn when he saw the deceased who appeared to hesitate and then step forward. Air Finlay, for Rule, said he had a number of witneses whose depositions would conflict considerably with that already given. It had also been ascertained that the skid marks already mentioned had been on the road before the accident. ,tt counsel's request, an adjournment was granted until .Monday.
