A man named George Cruiekshanks, (SO years of age, was found dead in a hut at Howard on Monday afternoon. An inquest was held at Murichson yesterday, when a verdict of “Found dead ” was returned.

The Westland Agricultural and Pastoral Association’s 20th. annual show will be held on-the Hokitika racecourse on Saturday, Feb. 21st. Col. N. S. Falla, son of Mr and -Mrs S. Falla, of Westport, has been appointed Hon. Aule do Camp to the Governor-General, Sir Charles Fergusson, who, during the Great War, was in charge of the Artillery in France, and frequently came in touch with Col. Falla, who was Colonel of the Third and then the Second Brigade of N.Z. F. A
The death took place on J- ritlay last at the Daimevirke Hospital, of Mr Frank Ralph. Deceased who was l(i years of age, was a native of Waimangaroa, being the eldest daughter of Mrs and the late William M alkcr, Mr Ralph and bis late wile left W ai-mangai-oa some 18 months ago. Deceased had been ill for some considerable time. She leaves a sorrowing husband and five young children.
The Swimming Carnival will take place at the .Municipal Baths commencing at S p.m., this evening. Good entries have been received and a good nights sport is guaranteed the patrons.
