A BURGLARY.
AT BECK AND COAIPANY’S BREA USES. GREYAIOUTH. January 13. Another burglary was lornmittod in Greyinouth on ’Tuesday night, or in the small hours of Wednesday morning, tbs promises ol Messrs P. Beck and Co., general merchants. ATackay St, being entered. The cash register was rifled and £0 taken therefrom. The intruder made his entrance from the lane running at the rear of the (‘onitneivial Hotel. Entering a shed at the hack of Beck and Co s premises aial unlocking a window at the end ol this building nearest to the main premises. the thief effected an entrance into the loft of the silo]), and by means ,f sum-ladder desrendel into the shop itselt. It i.s the custom of the firm to leave the cash register unlocked, to militate against damage by burglars, lhe sum of £0 for small change, had been b'it in the register that was robbed, hilt, .strange to .say. the burglar left untouched another register, also containing money, and unlocked, and a Bai-nad-i if. Tit" Box. which contained « considerable amount. It is reported another cash register was recently tampered with in town.
