COLOGNE EVACUATION.
[Reuters Telko rases. J G HUMAN DEMANDS. BEE LfN, Jan. 7. The ( lennan Note in reply to the Allies’ protests against their decision not to evacuate Cologne has been received. Germany demands at the earliest a communication detailing the Vilied corn plaints. it says that the Allies could claim the right to postpone the evacuation if Germany were guilty of shortcomings, the importance of which corresponded with the hardship of extension of the occupation. The Note insists that Germany has disarmed so completely that she can no longer he a military factor in European affairs, ft concluded: “Dilfercnces of opinion iirising over the evacuation, which are the results of one-sided dictation cannot he interpreted as a lack of goodwill on the part of Germany whereas if the Allies continue to he guided by the spirit of the London Conference, a settlement could he speedily reached.” MARX’S DIKEfCtiI,TIES. BERLIN, Jan. 8. Dr Marx is unable, to form a Cabinet. He proposes to carry on with the assistance of a business committee.
