[by TELEGRAPH PER PRESS ASSOCIATION. TAUPO TROUT. CONDITION UNSATISFACTORY. AUCKLAND. December 30. The condition of the trout is causing anxiety to anglers at Taupo this year. Although plenty of large fish are being caught, the majority are not in the condition that was a feature of catches at this time last, year. Tt i.s lea red that the food supply has once more been overtaken, and that the magnificent rainbow trout of last season. will not he seen again for some time. Anglers have noticed that there are more small fish about, than usual, and as these seem to he more active in hunting for food supplies, they are generally in better condition than the bigger fish.
The upper readies of the Waikato river are well stocked with good-condi-tioned fish, but, again, these are smaller and not so bulging with fat r*« those of last year. Supplies of small indigenous fish oil which the trout feed in Lake Taupo and the Wankato river do not appear to he present in quite the same abundance as in previous seasons.
