The AVa tors filers’ Federation lias suspended the Fremantle branch for its action in refusing to work the Clan AlonmeJ All other branches in the Commonwealth have endorsed Hie stispen- ' N sion order. The Wharf Labourers’ Federation hopes, by suspending the Fremantle branch to convince the Arbitration Court, or any other adjudicator, that may intervene, of its bona fides in regard to the settlement. Notices have not yet been issued to tlie permanent hands employed at the Sydney Labour Bureau, although the terms of settlement specify their engagement to he terminated on the (ith. of January. Concern was expressed at the Wharf Labourers Federation meeting, but it was decided to take no action until tho specified period had elapsed. A KTUUGGi.K I’DOBABLE. SYDNEY. January 1. The Seamen’s Union have notified the inter-State shipping companies that in future the picking up of crows must be done at the Seamen’s Union rooms instead of the Shipping Masters’ offices. In view of the latest move by the Seamen’s Union, a severe industrial struggle between the interstate Shipping companies mid seamen is probable. The opinion is expressed in shipping circles that if the Seamen’s Union persists in its determination to force the shipping companies to pick up men at the Communist Hall, the laying up of every ship oil the Australian coast will he the result.
