' DAILY TELEGRAPH’S” LAM ENT. (Received this day at 12.30 p.m.) LONDON. December 21. The ‘-Daily Telegraph”, commenting on England’s .team to meet the New Zealanders, says it is nothing short of n tragedy that the authorities should pull a side to pieces on the eve of the most important international game in twenty years. It most clearly emphasises the folly of not taking reasonable steps earlier towards building up England’s side, on such an important occasion. The biggest surprise is the choice of Raymond, to fill a wing-three-quarter position, apart from whether it is desirable to include at all an Australian who had made his name in big football before he ever came to England. Tt was most expected, after; his great display in the University match, that he would have boon the full hack. Our three-quarters as nu attacking force are not convincing. Iti is difficult to sec the hacks providing the pace and combination nevessan- to give the English team a. reasonable chance of success against the All Blacks.
