THE ALL BLACKS.
COMMENT IX N.Z.R.U. CIRCLES. WELLINGTON, December IS. Except for a letter posted at Panama during the voyage of the All Blacks to England, tile New Zealand Rugby Union has received only one report by
mail from the manager of the team (Mr S. S. Dean). This fact was made the subject of a complaint at to-night’s meeting of the New Zealand Rugby Union’s management committee, when Air L. Alullany asked if steps were being taken to see that the team played no extra matches. -Mention lias been made in Press cable messages of the possibility of additional games being arranged for the All Blacks. The chairman (Mr A. C. Kitto): I fed unite confident that the team or the manager will not sanction any matches without the jurisdiction of this union. -Mr Alullany: It appears from the cabled messages that there is a likelihood of one match against r. combined Anglo-Welsh-] rish team. Air E. Little: I do not think for one moment they would do anything with out. reference to us. Mr Alullany: But we should make sure they do not. They should only play the games allotted. Mr \Y. Ilornig: They have not got. a date for extra matches. Mr T. A. Fletcher: I think we might ask for a little more information than we are getting from the manager. The chairman: I brought it up at the last meeting. You all seemed satisfied. I was not. Air Alullany: Wc get more information from outside than we get from our advisors. -Mr E. Wylie: Of course, they do not know the rumours that are going about hero. The chairman said ho thought that i:i the case of Badeley the manager might have advised the New Zealand Union of the. position. -Matters like that should have been reported upon by Air Dean. “ I am a hit dissatisfied,” Mr Kitlo added, “ and it is of no use saying that I. am not.” Members agreed that little notice should be taken of the rumours that were going about, but the chairman pointed out that a letter from a prominent member of (lie team to a member of the New Zealand Union must be accepted as reliable.
Air Fletcher: All we have from the manager since the team left the Panama Canal is a brief letter. Air Little: A'oti must always understand that a man in a job like tbut lias a certain amount of detail work to do. Everything is going on all right, so why worry. Mr E. Al’Kenzie said he considered that, members of the New Zealand Union when asked such questions as " Why is Badeley not playing?” should be ill a position to answer, instead of having to say that there was no iu11>i illation. Air Fletcher: Could we not ask for fuller reports? The chairman : It is 100 late now.
Surprise was expressed bv members hat. fhe delegates to the Imperial Con'reiice held in London last week bad ot, cabled any report. The chairman said lie considered that lie decision on such an important qncsion as representation on the fnteratioual Donril should have boon cabled \ the delegates.
" ll seems strange In me." he said thill we get very little from the man ger or Air Wilson.
