IUBTBALIAN AND N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION AUCKLAND v. CANTERBURY. AUCKLAND, Dec. 17. The selectors of the Auckland cricket team to play Canterbury and Otago for the Blanket Shield have l>cen notified that R. C. Somervell (Parnell) will not he available for the tour. C’. Montioth (North Shore) has been asked to fill the vacancy.
The team now is:—S. G. Smith. E. ITorspool, H. Wilson, C. Allcott, C. Dacre, I. Elliott, R. Fritter, W. Garrard. C. Monteith, .7. Mills, C. Metje and 11. Gillespie. S. G. Smith has been appointed captain of the team. The selection committee on the tour will lie the manager (Mr R. J. Clark), the captain, and C’. Dacre. WEATHER, PROSPECTS. (Received this day at 8 a.m.) SYDNEY, December 18. It was showery during the morning, hut later it cleared and the prospects for the test match are bright. WEATHER IDEAL. SYDNEY, December 19. The weather is fine and bright and the prospects ideal for the cricket.
