Beef.—Tho total yarding of beef was approximately 530 'head, comprising mostly medium weight steers and varying qualities of cows. The market opened firm at an advance of 30s a head for good steers and heifers, but only showed a light advance oil tho medium quality cows. The general allround advance was for good l.eef 2s Gd to Its Oil per 100, rougher sorts about Is Oil i>or 100. Extra prime medium weight steers -15 s per 100, prime -10 s to -l:ts; prime heavy weights 37s to 39s 0(1; medium 31s to 37s Gd, lighter sorts 30s to 335. and rough sorts to 255.
