The preparations for the race meeting are now completed and the important event promises to pass off very successfully. Enquiries at the Christchurch Government Tourist Office show that the holiday traffic for this Christmas season surpasses that of any previous season, barge bookings have been made to all parts of New Zealand from Cliiistehurrli, but the most liberal patronage lias been extended to South Island resorts, such as Franz Josef Glacier, Alt. Cook and Milford Sound Track. ’I lie bookings to the latter place constitute a record. All accommodation lias not vet been booked lip. as extra provision lias been made for visitors to cope with the large number offering, the management both at Mt.
