John Junior, farmer, of Ferndale, charged with the manslaughter of Donald Cameron, near Gore, on the evening of Decemher Ist., appeared nt the Magistrate's Court this afternoon before Magistrate Dixon. Doctor Rogers gave evidence that death was due to haemorrhage, which could have been caused bv a blow or a. fall.

The statement of tlie accused was read, stating he met C'ameron, who was drunk. They had two or three drinks together, and a fracas occurred over Cameron desiring Junior to go to Gore. Junior, in self defence repelled Cameron’s attack, knocking the latter down twice. The second time he fell on the metalled road, and he did licit rise. No witnesses saw the actual fight.
