BUTTER PRICES REDUCED. AUCKLAND, December 18. The retail price of butter (superfine) lias been reduced one penny to Is 7d per pound. H. A. .MASSEY’S DEATH. INVERCARGILL, Dee. 18. The death occurred suddenly at the ■Grand Hotel to-day of Horatio A. Masscv, a well-known sawmiller, who owned mills in various parts ol Southhind. Deceased recently returned from Europe, which he has visited lour times since the war. He is survived bv a widow, a daughter, two sons who held commissions having lieen killed in France. A SEAMAN'S DEATH. AUCKLAND. Dec. Id. The Pnkeha. has arrived with 653 immigrants. She had an uneventful voyage. except that on Nov. 20th. a seaman named J. Haskett fell !n>ni a derrick and sustained injuries from which he died.

At the Magistrate’s Court this afternoon a man came up on warrant for failure to provide maintenance tor lus wife and children and was remanded to Christchurch to appear on the 19th. inst.
