Hobbs is not out With 50 and Sutcliffe not out 40. .Mr A. Noble captained the Juniors, but lie failed to score. THE FIRST TEST MATCH. The first Test match between Australia and England will be commenced on tlie Sydney Cricket Ground next Friday, December 19th. The selectors of the Team are IT. L. Collins, who was appointed captain liv the Board of Control, Clem Hill, and E. E. Bonn. Of the twelve men selected l’onsford and llendrv. are Victorians, and the Richardsons bail from South Australia. The nine others are from New South Whiles and all have played for Australia before.

COLLIN'S, THE CAPTAIN. Collins lir.st sprung into prominence as a leader when he was captain of the A.I.E. team alter the war, and his control of that learn and the N'.S.AV. eleven was unstintingly praised by the critics. He was prominent in interstate cricket before the war. scoring close on 300 for New South Wales against Tasmania. Then with A.I.E. team he topped the flatting averages and was second only to Gregory as a howler., lie bowls left-bandied. 'Flaying for N'.S.AV. since the war he lias scored 111. ino. and 108 against Victoria. and 133 against South Australia. In the fourth match ill Melbourne he captured nine in one innings. Altogether in Tests he bad taken -Fi wickets at a cost- of 28 runs apiece.

Hendry, a line all rounder, is second only to Orcgory as a slip fieldsman. For Xew South Wales lie has performed ah|y with both hat and hall, hut this season is playing for Victoria. Mo won a place in the Australian team that toured England in 1021 through Kollowav dropping out, and tin’s year lie captained the Australian eleven which played the F.nglishmcn at Brisbane.

compiling 88. lie is a brilliant outfield. KF. LEEWAY. Kellewav is probably the host medi-um-paced howler in the C’ommonwealtli. and :i batsman with dogged determination. A. Richardson made a brilliant 200 against, the Englishmen this year for his State. Smith Australia. lie is one of the most consistent batsmen in Australia. and has made well over 1000 runs in Sheffield Shield cricket. He is also a good medium-paced liowler. V. V. Richardson, the South Austra-
lian Captain, who toured Xew Zealand in 1021 with Hansford’s team, lias scored four centuries in bis last four Sheffield Shield matches. He lias bad -10 innings against X.S.W. and Victoria, and lias scored IG7I runs at an average of 43.
TAYLOR. Taylor was the schoolboy phenomenon of X.S.W.. and lias since fulfilled his early promise. He was a member of the A.T.F. team, and was in both series of tests since the war. Tn Test cricket lie has played 13 completed innings for 403 runs, with an average of 31.00. Last season lie was in great form in club cricket, but was not so good in Sheffield Shield matches. He is a brilliant field, and has also represented his State at*football.
