At the Magistrate's Court this morning before Mr Meldrum S.M. George Henry Tainui was charged with having possession of a .1)03 rifle for over seven days without it being registered, ami was fined os. On a charge of unlawfully assaulting -Mary George by striking her on the breast, with his douched list, defendant was convicted and fined -IDs, a week being allowed to pay the lines.
An inspection parade of the Hokitika Fire Brigade wits held last night by Inspector T. T. Hugo. There was a muster of 21 men under Superintendent Brnddon. The steam engine was taken to the stand on the wharf and was found to work very satisfactorily. Afterwards a disabled hose practice was held. Inspector Hugo expressed his satisfaction at the work of the Brigade.

A dislocated collar-bone, abrasions, and bruises were received by a young motor-cyclist. .Mr T. J. Muir, as the result of a collision with a motor-car in Dominion road. Auckland.
