AUTOMOBILE’ASSOCIATION.
A committe meeting of the AYestlaud Branch.of the Canterlniry Automohile Association was held in the County Cliuinhers on the 9th inst at 7.Ill) p.m. when there was a fair attendance. Inward correspondence was received and outward approved. It was decided to erect before Christmas ii possible, danger signs on had i orners on the roads in the district, also direction signs at the necessary places rm the routes to Kunicro Bake and Hokitika Gorge. Siihjeet to permission from the County Council it was decided to improve Crnwlish bend on l.ake Kanicri Road. This corner at present is rendered dangerous by the view from either side being ohstrueted until the apex of the head is reached. It is proposed to cut away the hank so that a clear view may lie obtained hy drivers approachiug from either side. It was also decided to support the agitation for a bridge over Palmer Creek on the Arahura road, it being recoginised that this creek was at present a serious obstacle to vehicular and other traffic using the road. It was reported that arrangements had been made hy the Branch for clonrin.g .scrub obstructing the view on sharp corners on the main soutli road, the Association hearing the cost.
The following new members were elected : W. .1. Ilnnslniry, W. O'Reilly, W. 11. Stopforth. and I’amment. and Bergamini. A vote of thanks to the Chair concluded the meeting.
