This work lias progressed in a satisfactory manner in spile of tlie unfavourable weather experienced, which caused several large slips from tlie hillside completely blocking the road to traffic for a few hours.

The F.W.R. lorry was kept husily employed during the month in carting "ravel, timber, and pipes to various roads in the Central Riding. i SOCTIIKIiX HIDING.
Lower KakapoLahi Bridge.—Good progress lias been maintained throughout the month hy the working party under the direction of Mr 11. Reynolds. Bridge Foreman. Continued Hoods have hampered the work of pile driving, during the last two months. All piles were driven fourteen loot below the stream lied, and the driving of the last pipe completed at noon on December 3rd. Roadman Whitiskie attended to the necessary repairs to various roads in the inter-'Wanganui district. The F.W.I>. lorry and mail "fader have been sent south to attend to the roads in the Wntaroa and iuter-Wanganui districts.
