BRITAIN AND FRANCE.

PARIS, December A. A communique states that at one of this morning’s conversations between Mr Chamberlain and M. llerriot, an agreement was reached on questions requiring immediate solution. Consideration of other questions will be pursued. The Paris communique states: “Conversations on other questions was pursued in a friendly spirit, and with the declared desire on both sides to develop the relations of friendship existing between Franco and Britain and to ensure the maintenance of peace. The conversations lasted two hours M. elemental (Finance Minister) was called in to the conference. M. Paul lloncour, French Delegate to the League of Nations, arrived at the Quai D’Orsay during the conference and stated M. llerriot 'wished to know whether, in view of the approaching evacuation of the Cologne zone, it would he possible to consider the immediate reinforcement of a system of investigation by the League of Nations and Germany, instead of by the inter-Allied Control Commission

LONDON, December G. The “Daily Herald’s” Paris correspondent states: Mr A. Chamberlain and M. llerriot agreed that each leave the other country a free hand in Egypt and Morocco respectively. The German elections which take place on Sunday, were discussed, and it was agreed that if the new Reichstag is favourable to the execution of tluTPinves Plan, Britain and Franco Would jointly consider a scheme for the partial evacuation oT the Rhineland. In the event of a hostile Reichstag being returned, it is understood Mr Chamberlain agreed to the substitution of French for British troops in Cologne in the interests of the French Armv in the Ruhr. Finally Air Chamberlain hinted that Britain would he gratified to receive suggestions in reference to the French debt to Britain.
