The summer meeting of the Westland Haring Club is set down for Friday and Saturday, December 2b (Boxing Day) anil December 27. Tbe Club i.s distributing £20111) in stakes with a silver clip for the principal event the Westland mile—donated by the Westland Lit cased .Victuallers. The stakes thus average £1.090 per diem, the highest on the West Coast circuit for the season. Nominations close at 0 o’clock tomorrow night, with the Secretary, care Box 01, P. 0.. Hokitika.

On the opening day—for -which eight events are set down.--the principal race i.s the Westland Cup. one mile. Tin's invariably draws a good entry and a smart field, and this year’s nomination is not likely to be any exception. There is a hurdle race of £l2O. and a High Weight of £l3O. Tile sprint event, the Christmas Handicap, is endowed with £l2O. Four other events, each of £IOO, complete a good day’s rating

card. For the second day. the stakes are allocated on a similar basis. The chief event is worth £2OO. with a hurdle race of £l3O. A Welter Weight race of £l3O is provided also, and the sprint rare, the Summer Handicap is worth £l2O. with four other races, each worth £IOO.

All nominations are £1 for each race, and the minimum weight in all events, excepting the two Welters, i.s 7 stone. The distances are well appropriated for the fields which patronise the Coast, and the whole programme should be very attractive.

The Club has the course in very good order and condition. All the appointment have been painted, while the racing track is in good order. The meeting should he very successful.
