[Kkutkrh Tei.korams. 1 RUGBY LEAGUE RULES. SOME DECISIONS. LONDON Decemher 2. The Rugby League has issued interpretations of rules arising from reports by the touring managers Dannatt and (l.sborue point ing out the differences- between English and Australasian practices. The League has decided the present unsatisfactory manner wherein the play the hall rule operates, can lie obviated by obedience to the law as it stands. It instructs the referees to riaidly enforce the underlying principle which is to bring the hall hack into play with the least possible delay, after a tackle. It adds that it is a violation of the law to put the ball down in touch with the foot and then fall on the hall, repenting the operation and allowing the defence to consolidate. Tt- was deiided that a scrum, not a penally, should he ordered for a forward pass. Tt was decided that N.Z. is wrong in the practice of putting men on side which Law 10 clearly governs. Tt was decided that the Australasian practice is illegal of having emergency players ready on the touch to replace injured men. This is against the spirit and tradition of Rugby and is a temptation to include an unsound player, knowing if lie breaks down, they can have ii substitute.
