A GRUESOME FIND.

BODY OX NORTH TIP. GREYMOUTII, Dec. 1. Yesterday evening at 7.1 -T o’clock, whilst two hoys, named Frederick Egglelon and Victor Kcttiety, were walking along the North Beach, they saw a human body on the rocks of the North Tip, partly submerged. They immediately communicated the news of their gruesome discovery to Constable Baird, of Cobden, who proceeded to the Tip Head, and had the body removed to the Morgue. Ihe body was that of a male and was much decomposed, being minus the left leg, and was unrecognisable, having t.lic appearance of being in the water for some months. The light leg was clad in cotton drawers, witll a dark brown woollen sock, and nailed shooter boot of about size S on the foot. The body appears to be that ol a man of medium build, and alxiut Aft Pin. in beiglii. There are two moil reiKirted missing, one being a seaman named Henry Thomas Orlev, ol the s.s. Titoki, who has not been seen, nor

heard of since May Kith last, and the other being a resident ol Knnieri, named David Mason, who has been missing since October. Sergeant 11. Fryer said the fact of the deceased man having a nailed shooter hoot on his foot did not indicate that he followed the sea as an occupation, as hoots without nails -lie usually worn bv seamen. An inquest will lie bold.
