A girls’ “ learn to swim week ” is to lie held in Auckland, commencing next .Monday. This is a genuine effort to concent rate on teaching swimming, with special emphasis oil teaching beginirers. hast year a very successful “ learn to swim week ” was held in Sydney by business girls, and there were 7o() enrolments. The Auckland City Council has shown a ready sympathy with the girls’ effort and is allowing the city baths to lie reserved for an hour each evening. There will be classes for improvers and for life-saving as well as for beginners. The Auckland Amateur Swimming Association and the Life Saving Society are both muclt interested in the project and are giving hearty co-opera-tion in the way of finding teachers.

A iquiot hu.j very pretty wedding was celebrated at the residence of the bride’s parents, Wnitahu ou Wednesday afternoon at ‘2 o’clock, the contracting parties being Isabel, eldest daughter of Mr and .Mrs K. l.ockington of Waitahu, and Percival Colvin, son of Mrs and the late .Mr d. Colvin. AI.P. for Puller. The bride, who was given away bv her father, was prettily attired in a frock of hand embroidered mnrocnin and wore a pretty veil (worked by the Sisters of Mercy'). She was attended by Miss Ivy Ay-soil as bridesmaid, who wore a dainty frock of shell pink orepe-de-ehinc with silver trimmings, and a wreath of silver leaves. The bridegroom was attended by Mr J. L.
