Enthusiastic reference was made liv a well-known beekeeper, .Mr A. 11. Davies, of Hamilton Fast, secretary of the Auckland provincial branch of the National I lord', copers’ Association, to tiic cure for foul brood disease in honeycomb, recently discovered by Mr E. W. Sage, of Oliaupo. Beekeepers, Mr Davies said, were beginning to look upon many advertised drugs and 1 k infectants more in the nature of snaris that cures; hut it was his belief tint at last Air Sage had discovered ("re that would do the work that it was claimed to do. He had frequently seen combs which were badly infected with the disease treated with the preparation and afterwards used in the l ive without showing any further signs of the disease. The discovery of this solution will mean a big-saving to beekeepers, said Air Davies. In the past these combs have had to be destroyed and replaced with foundation, meaning a considerable amount of extra work for tile lives and loss of honey to the beekeeper.

The Municipal Band under Conductor (.'. Ross visited the Mental Hospital yesterday afternoon anti played a very line musical programme which was greatly appreciated hv the inmates and. staff'. A large number from town and surrounding districts visited Lake Kanieri yesterday, the day and lake being perfect for an enjoyable outing, hut this was somewhat detracted from through there being no launch available to cross to Dorothy Falls, those especially who had never been 011 the lake’s placid and lioniitiful waters, being greatly disappointed.
A serious accident occurred yesterday at Rbickball to a man named 'William Fisiold. whereby his arm was severely injured, lie was out with a gnu when by some means, the weapon exploded, and he received the impact in the left arm. The limb was more or less shattered hv the explosion and it was necessary without, delay to convoy the sufferer to the Grey River Hospital. All inquiry last evening, elicited the information that his condition was improving.

The inaugural run of the Hokitika Motor (lull look place yesterday to Lake Kanieri when sonic twenty or more enthusiasts took part, the scone along the Lake road hearing 11 very animated appearance and as the string of motor cyclists passed by it was evident that all suits of machines had been pressed into service from the spin and span and highly tuned A.J.S’s.. the heavy Yankee machines, the light Douglas, Triumphs, etc., and some older machines whose pedigree was somewhat obscured by age and leaking oil. mixed with the inevitable dust of the road. The run to the Lake was not altogether wholly uninterrupted as most of the participants weio held up on Butchers Hill through a motor truck with a load of picnickers getting struck, while just over the brow, one motorist got a spill, hut was not injured, the rest of the jtiurnev being uneventful.
