Nelson's civic jubilee was celebrated to-day by a gathering at the Church steps. Addresses were delivered by the Mayor (.Mr W, Lock) and -Mr 11. Atnlore, M.R., Messages from the Prime Minister, .Sir Francis Bell (who was born in Nelson), and Sir Robert Stout, were read. It was pointed out that Nelson possesses till the modern services provided in up-to-date communities. A thanksgiving service will be held tomorrow. Over a thousand children from the country districts were broujMit in on the railways, and they are being entertained in the city to-day in connection with the Childrens’ Annual Gala Dav.

DROWNED AT LAKE COLERIDGE. CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 10. The police have received word that a little girl, A tula McGuire, was found drowned in a pool at Lake Coleridge.
