HOKITIKA FIRE BRIGADE
The quarterly meeting wa.s held on Tuesday evening. Superintendent Braildon presiding over an attendance of 2l
members. The minutes of the picvious meeting were confirmed and outward correspondence approved. The inward correspondence, of a routine nature, was also approved. Three appeals for sick firemen were received from the United Fire Brigades Association, as worthy of support a id £1 Is was voted to each of them.
The Secretary reported the ball recently held bad proved a great success both financially and socially and the thanks of the Brigade were due to all donors anil also the ladies and all others who had assisted in making it tho great success it proved to he.—Received as very satisfactory and it was resolved to publicly express the thanks of the Brigade. The resignation of ,T. Hagar was if- j reived and accepted, and probationer E. Keni*ns was elected to fill tlhe vacancy.
The officers in charge of the various gear reported that all was in good order. In connection with the resignation of Foreman Robert Ross. received and dealt with at a recent practice, it was recorded on the minutes the appreciation of the Brigade of the long and faithful sendees rendered over a period of 40 years, and he was elected a life honorary member of the Brigade. This action was approved and endorsed. The roll was then called and the meeting terminated.
