AVoriy over the effect of German competition on the factory he managed was stated to have caused the suicide of Mr George 'William Hanscll, of York-road, Ilford, E., on whom an inquest was held at Southend, Essex, yesterday. He was found drowned on the seashore at Southend, and left a noto saving that his work troubled him. .Mr George Jonhs, managing director of Messrs It, Evans and Co., wholesale drapers, AYatling-street, E.C., said Mr llanscll was manager of their upholstery trimming factory. Before German competition restarted after the war things went very well. The resumption of German competition had hit the factory, and Mr Mansell worried a good deal about it. although he made the place pay. Kcturning a verdict of suicide while temporarily insane, the. coroner said that Mr Mansell was apparently one of those all too rare individuals who worried as much about his firm’s business as if it were his own.
