[BY TELEGRAm —PElt PRESS ASSOCIATION ’ LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL. GAMING RILL PASSED. WELLINGTON, October 29. After sitting all the afternoon the Council resumed in the evening. The -Muster and Apprentices Amendment lii.ll, enabling the Minister of Lands to net as a parent or guardian to hoy fanners and sign apprenticeship deeds where there is no parent or guardian in New Zealand, was put through all stages and passed. The Patents. Designs and Trade Marks Amendment Hill was reported from the Statutes Revision Committee without amendment, put through all stages and passed. A lengthy debate took place on the Gaming Amendment Hill which was received from the House. Kir Francis Hell apjiealcd to the Council to allow the Hill to pass unamended, hut several members took exeption to this and notified alterations and new clauses they proposed to move. The second read-' ing was carried by 23 to 7, the objectors being the Hons. Harr, Cow, llull-Jours, Izard, McGregor, Malcolm, and Thomson. Lu the committee stage the lion. Harr moved the deletion of the clause increasing the permits, hut the amendment defeated was 21 to 7, its supporters being the lions. Harr, Gow, jlall,fones, MacGregor, Newman, Thomson and Triggs. The other members did not press their amendments and the Dill was put through its final stages and passed without alteration. The Council adjourned at 10.10 until 2.30 p.m. to-morrow. THE HOUSE. DAIRY BILL PASSED. The House spent the whole afternoon in discussing the reports of committees, the greater part of the lime being occupied with a discussion on the report on the Emit Control Hill. The evening sitting was taken lip with the Committee stage of the Dairy Industry Amendment Hill, which was reported with amendments, icad a third time and passed. The Master and Apprentices Hill was read a second time (pro lorma) and referred to the Labour Hills Committee. The Mining Amendment, the Native Trustee. Amendment), and the Chattels Transfer Rill, were pul through committee with minor amendments, read a third lime and passed. The House rose at 3-10 a.m. till 2.20 p.m.
