SCULLING.
TODAY’S RACE. AY A.NO A.NCl,October L>.‘S. AY riling from Hamilton on Wednesday Dick Arnst states that everything is in order for his race with .1. P. Hannan on Saturday. Arnst stales: “It is going to he a hard tussle, as the course is one of three and a fpiarter miles against a four-knot stream. You can imagine there will be plenty of hugging the banks, so if you hear of one or the other running into the willows don’t he surprised. I have got down to fourteen stone and am. going ever so much better than I expected when I started work here. I won't surprise m.vself if I win, as Paddy is rowing just as usual and I cannot see any improvement in him.” The race starts at 2.d0 p.m.
When Arnst was in Wanganui some three weeks ago he expressed doubt as to whether he would be tilde to get in enough work in his boat to lit himself for the race. Evidently he has come back better than he anticipated. Hannan has also written in hopeful strain. He is very hopeful of turning the tables on Arnst on Saturday, lie is buoyed up by his recent wins. However, it is largely a matter of condition with Arnst. lie will need to be a long remove from his old form to be beaten by Hannan.
