The Municipal Conference adopted remits to enable town boards to give differential rating mi agricultural land; that when returned soldiers property reverts to the Crown under Government I,mu ic should not ho exempt from rates; recommending live per cent penalty nil rates overdue three mouths; tbal property acquired by the Government for residential purposes be not exempt from rating; that properties owned or occupied bv public trust lie made rateable; that no pigs meat lie exposed for public sale or sold unless killed at public abattoirs or inspected; that the Town Boards Act be amended by fixing the elections for April instead of September, conforming with the borough elections; that a clause lie inserted in the Valuation of Lands Act; that if Ihe Gnvor-iior-iii-Coiiiieil dues not approve of the acquisition bv the Government of land, the Valuer-General oiler same for sale at an unset price equal In the amount specified in the notice; that the Valuation Department lie required to state the nature of improvements on each property shown on the rating roll.
