LATE LOCALS.
A very interesting function took place on Monday night at the Mental Hospital, when the members of the Stall' met to farewell and make a presentation to Nurses Bocliford and Rowe. Prior to the presentation a number of solos were rendered bv members of the -staff. The presentations, which consisted of a suit case to Nurse Bocliford ami afternoon tea set for Nurse Rowe were made by Mr G.W ormiugton, who, in the course of his speech, made special mention of the .rood finalities of their two guests. Nurse Rochford, he said, had occupied the position of cook tor 4 years, and during that time her duties had been carried out in an eminently satisfactory manner. Her work had been appreciated. and her departure regretted. Nurse Rowe had proved herself as one specially fitted to carry out the duties of a nurse. Nurse Rowe possessed symnathv with her patients, ail even temper and a stock of patience not easily exhausted. On that account the speaker said, her services would be missed. Both the ladies had had happy associations with the staff ami the mementoes presented was a mark ot the esteem in which they were held by the members of tho staff. Mr Henderson responded on behalf of the recipients and expressed their deep appreciation to the members of the staff for their useful presents. Roth the ladies, Mr Henderson said, felt sorry tiiev worn leaving, for their association with their friends in the institution had l>een a very happy one. A very sun sos.mu oqi .Cq popi.io.id .loddus oont then handed round. A musical hour was then indulged in, after which the I singing of “Aulil Lang Syne an on--1 joy able evening closed.
