For two days in succession no -sales were reported on the Wellington Stock Exchange, and business is reported quiet. Prices, however, show no setliaek. On the contrary, there is a tendemy to linn with some groups, notably meal shares. New Zealand Refrigerating shares are Oil and 3d higher for the respective issues, Gear Meat shares 3d higher, and Meat Export shares (72s (id paid) Is higher. Tim1m shares are also very linn, and display a risiiig tendency. Government •stocks and bonds are quiet, with very little business offering. Bank shares, which were such strong favourites a few weeks ago. seem now to be neglected. It is probable that money for stock exchange investment is becoming scarce, for there is now considerable competition for funds. The Government is selling over the counter of per cent, debentures, with varying currencies from 5.1 to ”5 years. The Guarantee Corporation’s additional capital of £50.000 lias been fully subscribed. This concent paid S per cent, on its first year’s working.
