Notice to remove a marine boiler appears in this issue* by the Hokitika Harbour Board.
Two important mining applications were made to tho Warden this morning and were duly granted. Tho first was bv the Riinii Dredging Company tor prospecting licenses over a largo area on Wnimea Creek between the main road and tlie railway, over which substantia! boring operations will shortly be carried out for gold. In the second application the area covers 25,000 acres in tho KumaraTereinnkan district, the intention being to prosepet for oil. This appli--cation involved the lodgment of over £‘7oo as license fees for tho area in question, proving the substantial nature of the undertaking.
