The death oeounod yesterday morning of Mrs Allan McDonnell at her residence atTotara Flat. Deceased was one of the last of the early settlers A native of Fair Head, County Antrim, him., her husband and she came to New Zealand in the early seventies and had resided at Totara Flatover since. She.had been been in tailing health for some time past. She leaves a husband and four sons, John, Daniel. Alan, and Denis, and three '•daughters, Annie, Alary Jane, and Sarah, and several grand children. The Humphroy-Bi.shop Coy. gave one of their delightful entertainments at tlie Princess Theatre last night to a fair hut very appreciative audience. Counter attractions in town and country militated against a fit'll lionise, hut tlm.se who were fortunate enough
to lie present, had two hours and a half of very enjoyable entertainment. The programme presented was a very bright one. Every number found favor with .the audience. The show is bi;ight and novel in every detail from overture to curtain. '1 he orchestra is itself a feature often holding -the attention. The performers were at their best, and tile pronounced recalls by the audience encouraged the artists to excel more and more. Several of tin* assembled numbers were a delight and the ragtime quartette had difficulty in .separating themselves frrfni the very pleased audience. The baritone soloist gave great pleasure with his varied nunfhers, while the ladies all added pleasure and delight to tile scenes in which they appeared. There were many novel scenes and incidents in the production ot
some of the items, the ‘‘business” adding to the all round effect. The comedians were all good, their patter being humorous, and their whole work very clever. It was in fact a. programme of great pleasure, enjoyed most thoroughly by as appreciative an audience as ever gathered in the local theatre. The Company went north to-dav.
