AUSTRALIAN AND N.Z. CAHLE ASSOCIATION A FATAL (.iIIABREL. MELBOURNE, October 11. A tragedy, occurred at Smylliesdale, near Ballarat. Edward Antonio, aged twenty, was remanded on a charge ol the wilful murder of his lather, Christopher Antonio. According to the police evidence, the couple were employed cutting timber. The lather became incensed by the son asking lor tiie loan of a couple of pounds. A quarrel followed, and the father approached (he son threatening him, with ail axe in one hand, and a bottle in the other. The mother intervened, hut she was pushed aside. The son then seized a gun. with which lie attempted to push or ward his father off. ’Hie gun exploded, the full change entering the lather’s abdomen. Death lollowed in a few minutes. The son then rode into Ballarat and surrendered to the police. COAL MINERS STRIKE. SYDNEY.
