West Coast Farmers’ Lime Producing Co, Ltd.

<>■ SECRETARY'S KKFOKT. 1 have much pleasure in reporting that Air .John Fitzgerald finished the bridge over Donnelly’s C’reek at the Lime Works on Alondav last. Me are now busily engaged putting in the approaches, and protective works and hope to be able to open the bridge for traffic on October 2dth. We are all proud of “l-’ilz.”—a white man indeed, in whom there is no guile. He did not stop and ask bow much we would give him. but said: “Got the material cm the ground, and I will come- down and build the bridge.’’ We are also indebted to Mr H. R. Sword. Traffic- Afanager. for bis assistance in obtaining permission Irom the General Manager of the X.Z. ltailways to load lime through the goods shed at Itoss in wet and showery weather. Now that we have this concession and the bridge built it will assist considerably in accelerating the delivery of lime.

.Many of our shareholders will remember my warning not to lie caught napping, but to get their lime in store ready for the Spring.

1 was quite amused to see a letter in tin- “Star” by a gardener signed “Grey County” saying that not a single hag of Agricultural lime could lie supplied for several weeks. Our friend should have engaged an aeroplane and visited the works, lie would have been .surprise'll to find that 191 tons went out in September and nearly all that went into the “Grey County.” We have over ;(•')(! tons of orders on hand and d he will clo overtime, come down and Irv our 1 lib. hammer.

When consigning sacks for lime we wish again lo impress clients to see that they are strong and in good order. Lime runs through a small hole in sacks and is the- farmer’s loss. II the farmer fails to send his sacks in time for delivery we charge for sacks and they must he paid for, not deducted from the- account and returned. Sacks only last about three trips, especially if they get clamp or wet. We arc- hooking orders right no to Christmas so la- ill l iim- and if von fail to hook your dates for delivery you only have- yourself to Idame. Last month we increased the- stall from four to fourteen and could do with some- more at present. Judging by sonic- ol the telegrams we get for orders, some of our clients must think we have- an aeroplane engaged to deliver their orders, so perhaps we should toll them that we are wailing for some kind friend to present. us \\ith one. In closing- lot me say that we are always pleased to see clients ami show them through the works, and should any of our readers visit Hess on .Saturday 2Jth. fur the opening of tinbridge we will make them welcome.
