ADDINGTON STOCK MARKET. RIG RISE IN SHEER. (By Telegraph.—Special to Ruardiaa) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Messrs 11. Matson and Co., report as follows regarding their stock sale at Addington yards yesterday:— Store sheep —A medium yarding, mostly old ewes, with l.nilhs at fool. The demand lor these was not keen, many lots being unsold. Reiter Iced pmspeel-s were evidently encouraging owners to hold. All dry .sheep showed a good rise and not liianv wethers were yarded. Ewes and lambs ISs to 22s Ud, all counted; best shorn wethers 2<is to 28s IC.I. ditto hoggets 22s to 23s 10d. woolly wether hoggets fit!.-; to ;V»s !)d. M.S. and breed ditto 27s 2d to Store eallh- A small yarding again, mo-lly nondescript lots and potters. One decent pen of 2 and 3 year old
Jersey cross backward springers made £ll IDs (id. while another small line of 2-vr old mixed sexes made £.3 2s fid. Fat j,igs.—A medium entry. Porkers sold well and l.aeoueis were easier than late rates. Values were: Light porkers £2 IDs to 12 17s (id. heavy £3 to £3 IDs. average price fid to Hid. Light baconers £1 ."is to Cl Ids. heavy C.-> os to £d Id extra to £fi, average price 8d to Rjd. Choppers £.3 IDs to £7.
Store pigs.—A large entry came forward and prices showed a drill) of Gs to Is a head. A'alues were; AVcaners 21s to 28s, ex I ra to Ills Gd. small stores GGs Gd In :tßs. medium .'tits to Its, large In 5 Is; sows in pig £5 to Co 10s. Reef All average yarding. One line of 110 North Islanders were ton heavv. and prime for trade requirements. The market for all good prime medium weight showed an ininruvomelit. but extra heavy stuff was Die other way. The sale on the average in our opinion was slightly better nil round. Prime steers CIS As to £2O. extra to £22 Is Gd, mixed CIA to £l l los, others £0 os Jo £ll 10s. Prime heifers £l2 to £ll los, extra £l7 12s Gd. medium £8 los to £ll 10s, others CG to £8 10s. Prime cows £ll tils to CM. extra to £lO los, medium CO to £ll As, others £1 los to cs 10s. Mutton—The yarding was somewhat smaller and comprised more shorn sheep than lately. r l lie market opened decidedly firmer and improved considerablv as the sale progressed, showing an average rise of Os to os per head, fn fact, it was one of the dearest markets we have bad for years. Outside butchers were also operating freely, and helped to keep the market up. The great prices they are getting for skins, however, must be helping the butchers out considerably.
