The Egyptian Premier’s Zaghlttl Pasha) negotiations, as .summit vised in a White Paper, were for the withdrawal of all Biitish forces from Egyptian territory; the withdrawal of financial advisers; the disappearance of all British tontrol over the- Egyptian Government, notably in connection with foreign afi’aiis; the abandonment of the British claim to participate in the. protection of the Suez canal. Mr MacDonald, while not abandoning the hope of a subsequent agreement, expressed the opnion that Zagltlul’s attitude at present rendered an agreement impossible. He declared that no British Governemnt could wholly sacrifice its interests in guarding a vital link in British communications, like the Canal, lie assured Zaghlttl that Britain docs not intend to attempt direct control of the policy of tho Egyptian Government. Air AlacDon- —* aid adhered to his previous statements referring to the British remaining in the Sudan. LONDON October 7. Zaghlul Pasha, when departing from Paris, addressed a crowd of Egyptian and Sudanese students. He declared lie was bitterly disappointed with tho results of his London visit, lie had hoped that Britain would realise that a friendly and peaceful Egypt was worth more to the Empire than a hostile country, filled with political unrest. MOSUL DISPUTE. LONDON. Oct. 8. The Turkish Government lias not yet replied to two British Notes relative to the Turkish invasion of Iraq territory. Nether, apparently, have the Turkish invaders wholly withdrawn. The Briish diplomatic representative in Constantinople has been instructed to obtain mi immediate reply from the Angora Government, failing which, a much more strongly worded Note will become neccssa rv.
