Then it seemed that he was dazed and excited over the accident. farm hands dispute. BLENHEIM. October 7. A sitting of the Conciliation Council under the chairmanship of Mr A. Newton (conciliation Commissioner) was held in the matter of the Farm. Station Employees* dispute. The parties to the dispute were the Marlborough Farm Station Employees (other than shearers and shed , hands) Industrial Union of Workers, applicants;
and the Afarlbormigk 'Slice!(owners’ Industrial Union of Employers and others, respondents. Certain firms applied for exemption from the award,, which was the subject of the dispute on the ground that they were not employers of labour under the award. The Commissioner noted the applications for exemption and amended the list of parties accordingly, hut referred the matter to the Arbitration Court.
After .some discussion, it was decided that, as no agreement could he arrived at on the subject of wages, and as the other clauses were only minor ones, the whole dispute he referred to the Arbitration Court without any recommendation. AYR KSTLING. XAI’IER, October S. A hitch occurred in the wrestling match arrangements for the CfiOO nside bout between Sunni (Auckland) and Robin (Napier). The parties cannot agree as to a referee. The inn tell was set down for Auckland on the 17th. of October.
COAIAHTTED FOR SENTENCE. WELLINGTON, October 8. David William Fisher, pleaded guilty at the Magistrate’s Court to the theft of “217 from a. hag left by James Tracey in his hut at the Trentham racecourse. The accused, who is only 18 years of age. and who has been married for 18 mouths, said that lie took the money to take his wife on a holiday owing to her health being had. Ik* told her his parents sent it. The money was spent mostly oil his wife, who was ill while they were in Sydney. The accused was committed for sentence.
