LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL. WELLINGTON, October 3. The Legislative Council met at 2.30 p.m. The Auckland Electric Power Board Amendment Bill was rejorted from the Local Bills Committee* without amendment. Hen. Cohen asked whether, seeing that the Wireless Amalgamated Ltd., of Australia had by threats of legal pro: ess suet ceiled ill closing down till tile boadensting stations in New Zealand on account of alleged iulringcmeiits of the Association patent rights the Government would take steps to prevent, if possible, such a dangerous monopoly. Sir Lb D. Bell replied that Government had put the matter under immediate consideration. The Land and Income* Tax (annual) Bill was put through all stages and passed. The Council drew up reasons for insisting on its amendments in the Mortgages Final Extension Bill, and agreed to a conference with the House.

THE HOUSE. The House met at 2.30 p.m. The House spent the afternoon discussing the reports of special Committees. At the evening sitting, the Land and Income Tax Amendment Bill was put through all stages and passed, with slight amendments moved by the Premier. The Education Reserves Amendment Bill, ami Soddon Family Burial Ground Bill were rut through all stages and passed. The Stamp Duties Amendment Bill was read a second time. The House rose tit 11.29 till 7.30 oTla'k on Monday evening.
