LEG ISI. ATI VE COUNCIL. WELLINGTON, September 131. The Legislative Council met at 2.30 p.iu. Wellington City and MaJiiatua Kn doi'mCnt Sale Amendment Bill were introduied from the House and read a first time. Most and Telegraph Amendment Bill uas read a second time pro forma and referred to tin' .Statutes Revision Committee. Dunedin City Corporation Empowering Bill, 0| utiki Hospital District Bill; Mangiora Borough Valuation of Farm Lands for rating purposes Bill were put through the final stages and passed.
Nearly two hours discussion took place on the Mortgages Final F.xtensini Bill. "'lnch was considerably amended by the Council’s Statutes Revision Committee. Sir Francis Bel! .said that the Committee had not boon influenced in any way in the alterations it had Hindu by the Government. He considered the committee had acted wisely in altering the dates fixed by the House and lie would support the measure. If the result was a conference with the House of Representatives, such a thing had happened before, and there was no reason why it should not happen again. Several speakers expressed their views concerning the extension of the moratorium and the hill was put through the linal stages and passed, with only minor amendments, in addition to those effected l>v the Statute Revision Committee.
The Council rose at 1.35 p.m. until 2.30 p.m. next day. THE HOUSE. The House met at 2.30 p.m. 'fhe House was engaged during the whole of the afternoon and evening sitting discussing the Annual Land and Income 'Max Bill, which was passed unamended, after a. lengthy debate.
