Employees on the main floor saw smoke from the belting apertures in tlie Hours and almost immediately flames burst through tho Hours and leant up tlie brick walls to tlm ceiling. They spread to the main workshop and upholstering department on the second floor. By ten o'clock the Brigade ha l the flames subdued. Timber stocks in the basement where the !in- originated were badly burned, hut there is annuientlv little damage to the plant and timber in the workshop. An estimate of the damage is unavailable. but it will lie comparatively small, considering the extent of the conflagration, due to a large quantity of inflammable material.
